Afro Latinas in Bloom was a community-centered cultural experience produced in celebration of International Afro-Latina Day, created in partnership with Latinas in Cannabis and hosted at Conbud Dispensary, a Dominican-owned and operated cannabis dispensary.
As Moderator and Co-Organizer, I partnered closely with Latinas in Cannabis to bring the programming to life — from early ideation through on-site execution. The event was intentionally designed to center Afro-Latina identity, plant medicine, and collective healing, creating space for dialogue around culture, wellness, power, and representation within the cannabis industry.
The programming featured a curated panel of Afro-Latina leaders across cannabis, medicine, advocacy, and creative fields. My contributions included shaping the discussion framework, co-developing the event flow, moderating the panel conversation, and supporting partner alignment to ensure the experience remained culturally grounded and community-first.
On a personal level, this event held deep meaning. As a Dominican woman, Afro Latinas in Bloom became a powerful healing space — one rooted in visibility, shared experience, and collective affirmation. Creating and holding space for these conversations was not only professional work, but personal restoration. It reinforced the importance of representation, cultural ownership, and community care within the spaces we build.
This project reflects the power of collaborative programming — where shared vision, trusted partnerships, and intentional storytelling come together to create meaningful cultural moments rooted in healing and connection.
